Have you ever been stuck at home with a sick baby but needed groceries for a dinner party the next night? Or needed to go to multiple stores to get all your groceries for the week but dreaded getting your kids in and out of the car so many times? Or just had a crazy week at work and knew that your body needs nourishment from real food but you don’t even have time to go to the store so you end up in the fast food line? Well, if you are in the Birmingham area, then I have a local resource that I would love to share with you!
Madison from Full Pantry reached out to me a couple of months ago to see if I wanted to try out their service and I’m so glad that I did. It was similar to one of those scenarios listed above when I scheduled my delivery so it couldn’t have been better timing. My husband had been in Uganda and was returning that afternoon which meant I was solo parent for 10 days with a 17 month old + I was working almost full time hours in my normally part time job. It was just one of those weeks and while I love having our fridge stocked with our favorite staples and a few fun things whenever my husband returns from a long trip, it just wasn’t going to happen. Enter: Madison and Full Pantry to the rescue! Full Pantry is a local grocery delivery service in Birmingham, AL that delivers from any grocery store in the city. You pay exactly what the price tag states in the store and a fee to cover the delivery and unpacking of your groceries. You can have groceries delivered from multiple stores in the same day for an extra cost. She even delivers from Pepper Place Farmer’s Market and We Have Doughnuts, among other local places. I ended up getting our groceries for that week from Trader Joe’s and The Pantry by Stone Hollow Farmstead. I was able to get our weekly staples from Trader Joe’s and a few fun splurges from The Pantry. Madison truly provides second mile service. I asked for afresh loaf of bread from The Pantry if they had it and she told me that she was going to wait an hour because that was when the bread was going to get there fresh. I told her multiple times that she didn’t need to do that and she insisted! Madison is so genuine and kind and it was such a treat to get to chat with her when she delivered our food!
Here’s a little Q&A that I did with Madison so you can learn a little bit more about Full Pantry:
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in Birmingham and the longer I’ve lived, the more I have come to appreciate the city I call home.
Ever since I was a little girl, my father instilled in me the love of entrepreneurship and small business. I grew up as the oldest of 4 and inevitably inherited the “type A” label. Organizing things and creating to-do lists, are such a part of me. I guess there’s no getting away from it! I’m the person who adds to a chore list just for the joy of crossing it off. (Is that weird?)
Full Pantry has been the perfect avenue for me to use my love for organization and lists. My prayer and greatest desire is that the Lord will use this business to bless and serve the needs of many while furthering His kingdom in Birmingham.
When I began Full Pantry in February 2016, I had been teaching private piano lessons part time for 6 years and was praying about an additional job to help fill my time. I honestly had never heard of Shipt or any other grocery delivery service when the idea came to mind. Grocery shopping was something I had helped my mom do since I was young and something I felt comfortable/confident doing. I thought it would be a great service to help individuals, families, and couples with busy schedules as well as the elderly and chronically ill.
- We will shop at any grocery store in the city or multiple stores if you wish.
- Consistent personal shopper.
- No hidden fees or grocery mark-ups.
- We accept grocery lists in any format that you choose – email, text, pictures of handwritten lists, etc.
- We love supporting other local businesses and make deliveries from We Have Doughnuts, Stone Hollow Farmstead, Baking Bandit Co., Bunch Bakehouse, Birmingham Candy Co, Pepper Place Farmer’s Market, etc.
How does the service work?
We have some weekly clients with a set delivery time each week, some who order at random, and some clients who have a one-time need. To place an order, you can send an email, text or use our order form online. The delivery fee is 20% of the grocery total with a $20 minimum fee and a $50 maximum fee.
What is your favorite part of your work?
To be completely honest, I love every part of my job! But if I had to name one thing, I would probably say the shopping. I love the challenge of completing an order just as if the client was actually doing the shopping themselves!
Thank you so much Madison for taking the time to share with us! As I’ve shared with you guys before, I love the entrepreneurial spirit of the people here in Birmingham and Madison is another example of one of those people! I look forward to using her service again and I hope y’all will take some time to check it out as well!
